What types of sponsorship does your company handle?

We help Canadian citizens and permanent residents sponsor their spouse, partner, children to come to Canada. We also assist with complex cases, including procedural fairness matters, appeals, and previous refusals.

How to Become a Sponsor?

You can become a sponsor if you,

- Are 18 years or older

- Are a Canadian citizen or permanent resident

- Live in Canada (or plan to return if you’re a citizen living abroad; permanent residents must reside in Canada)

- Agree to a financial undertaking:

  • 3 years for a spouse, partner, or child over 19
  • 10 years or until age 25 (whichever comes first) for a dependent child under 22.
Who Can Be Sponsored?

Spouse

  • legally married
  • can be either sex

Common-law Partner

  • isn’t legally married 
  • can be either sex
  • has been living together for at least 12 consecutive months in a conjugal relationship, without any long periods apart

Conjugal Partner

  • isn’t legally married or in a common-law relationship
  • can be either sex
  • has been in a relationship for at least 1 year
  • lives outside Canada AND
    • can't live with each other in the country of residence or get married because of significant legal and immigration reasons such as
    • marital status (for example, one party is still married to someone else in a country where divorce isn’t possible)
    • sexual orientation (for example, same-sex relationship, and same-sex relationships are not accepted, or is illegal where they live),
    • persecution (for example, your relationship is between different religious groups which is not accepted and they may be punished legally or socially)
What is Spouse/Partner in-Canada Class

If your spouse or common-law partner is already living with you in Canada, you can apply through the Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada class. This option lets your spouse or partner apply for an open work permit even if they do not have valid immigration status. 

What is Spouse Open Work Permit

This work permit lets them work for any employer in any city in Canada, in accordance with the law, while their application is being processed.

Processing Time for In-land Spousal Sponsorship

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) estimates that spousal sponsorship applications are processed in about 12 months. However, the exact time can vary depending on your specific situation.
